First Steps.

Hello everyone! I'm new to the Createalong, and have begun to plan my project. I want something I can wear when the weather eventually warms here in Boston, but don't tend to knit with cotton.

I've decided on a Kidsilk Haze sleeveless boatneck shell with a very fitted, high empire waist that then increases in quite a radical puff to create the illusion of curves. The super-wide belts cinching dresses and blouses over the past few runway seasons are my inspiration.

A goal I always have in mind when choosing projects and adjusting patterns and ideas is obtaining proper fit for my frame. In my case, that means a 32" bust AND a long torso. There has been so much conversation recently about sizing and fit in knitwear, all for the good! I love to see patterns in bust sizes 30"-50" and up. However, my design will be meant for a person whose bust is small in relation to the rest of her figure and who desires to accentuate her waist... myself!

Oh good! That means I can wear it, too! Seriously, though, welcome to the CAL. Your idea sounds very intriguing.

Your idea sounds awesome. I can't wait to see it though to visualize it better. Are you going to post a sketch? Any ideas on colors you are going for yet?

And I LOVE Boston. I wish I lived there... :)

I promise a sketch tonight!

As for colors, I want something really BRIGHT. Jelly, perhaps? Or that new really bright fuschia? I'm going to my LYS to see some of the colors in the flesh this weekend... in the meantime I'll swatch with some pale green leftovers I have.
