Into the yoke

I've been working on the cardigan a lot lately and am well into the yoke and have the cables established. I'm delighted with the transition between patterns.

I don't know why the color of the yoke looks different from the body in these photos. It doesn't in person. I switched the direction of the cables at the center back:

Tonight I should be able to get to the first decrease. I'm going to decrease both within the cables and within the garter sections. And I'm getting antsy to sew the seams and close up the armholes. That always makes such a big difference. Like I'm working on a sweater, not constantly adding to an amorphous lump.

I think that reversing the cables is one of those little details that makes a big difference in the finished product. I'm looking forward to seeing it as a sweater too!

I agree - I love the reverse of the cables and the transition between the two patterns is perfect. It's going to be great!

Just one question - don't kill me for this - but is the collar going to stand up in the back so that you see what is currently the right side? This is one of the trickiest aspects of a collar like that - making sure that the parts which face the world are pretty. I wouldn't even ask this question, except that I can totally see myself knitting the collar and then realizing the wrong side would be showing!

Julia, that's not a collar, just the beginning of a round yoke after I joined all of the pieces.

Good point though--I would totally do something like that too.

I second Joanna, the two patterns really work together perfectly ;-).

D'oh! Well, I'm glad at least one of us is thinking clearly. For some reason "yoke" read "shawl collar" to me this morning! Don't ask!

I like how the patterns flow from one to the next. It's a well thought-out transition. I'm looking forward to the finished project.
