I now have to pick up stitches and knit the bottom back. I realize I must be very careful to leave enough room for the shoulder and arm movement. I am going to lay the knitted strip flat and do a schematic to be sure to accomplice this..

Beautiful--it will be so interesting to see it with the back added. I didn't realize the stithc pattern was quite so open; I wonder how much it will stretch with the added weight.
I love how delicate the stitch looks. I can't wait to see the whole sweater together.
Hey you knitters-thanks for the comments--I was thinking of not adding an additional back but I can't decide, so I'm mulling it over. I figured I would give it a try and if I don't like it rip it out. The Kid Mohair is so light weight that if I do add the bottom back it will not weight it down.
Thanks!
I love that. It's even prettier than your sketches! Great job. I can't wait to see the rest.
Edna - it looks fantastic! I love this pattern. I agree with everyone that it doesn't have to have a back, but I think that could be pretty as well. It will be interesting to see the difference.
I love the light and airy feel to this sweater. :)
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE POSITIVE WORDS--really ---it means a lot to me--This is such a nice experience being able to give and get good positive feed back--Thanks Edna
This sweater is beautiful, and what a great color choice! I hope this pattern is available when you're done...
